General Meeting!

Hello SVEA!!

Tuesday the 27th, we will have our monthly meeting from 6:00pm- 7:00pm in Ruffner 200!  Cheryl Gittens will be presenting "Keeping on Track", an informative speech designed to make sure everyone is doing what he or she needs to do to:
1. Get into the Curry school
2.  Graduate from the Curry School.

Apple Picking Social!

Members of the SVEA at the Apple Picking Social!

 

Members had an awesome time making the trek to the top of the mountain!  Together we picked probably $30 worth of Apples and bought $50 worth of goodies: apple cider, donuts, pie, and jams! :)

Teaching might not be the best profession for us shopaholics;)

Overall, it was a great day!  We can't wait for the next social!

However, I learned a valuable lesson: DO NOT WEAR HEELS WHEN YOU ARE HIKING UP A MOUNTAIN!!!!.

Hello Future Educators!

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, November 7th from 6:00- 7:00 p.m.  We will be meeting in Ruffner 175!  Feel free to stay after and help decorate the bulletin board! :)

Whats new...

Special Thanks

to everyone that stopped by the interest meetings!!

No worries if you couldn't make it, just come to our first meeting TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 25th!  We will reveal the location shortly, but keep 5pm-6pm open! 
We are really looking forward to this year, I know we are going to make an awesome team!

At the meeting, we will talk about volunteer opportunities and specify the time!  We will also hold elections for board members!  So if you plan on running, (and have already emailed Samantha) have a speech ready for the 25th!

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunity!

  Dark Skies, Bright Kids

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:

The SVEA has been asked to volunteer for the program Dark Skies, Bright Kids.  If you volunteer, you will be working with children ages 8-11 at a local school.  You do not need to know anything about astronomy to volunteer, as long as you have a positive attitude and are willing to work with kids you are perfect for the job!  We are looking for three members than can volunteer every Wednesday, noon until 3:30.  The program starts September 19th and ends in November.

Activities Fair

Hey guys!

We want to thank everyone that signed up at the activities fair!  It was a huge success for us- we had 144 people sign up! :) The next step is to come to the INTEREST MEETINGS September 11th and 12th! We'll be having a picnic so come hungry! Feel free to stop by any time between 5-6 p.m.  The picnic will give you a chance to get to know future members and ask any questions you may have!  We appreciate you so much and hope you join our wonderful chapter of the SVEA!
